8 July 06 - Flaps are on

Not much in the way of pictures today - a little bit of work over Thursday and Friday that didn't make it in here at all got the right flap nearly finished up, and today's work of doing the same thing on the other flap didn't really seem to deserve any pictures.

They're both on now, woop de do. We've got both of them within a couple of degrees of what they're supposed to be, and that's just as close as it's going to be for now - we'll have to readjust them when we get to the hangar anyway, so this is fine for now. I expect that for now, they'll come back off so so we can start working on the wing root fairings sometime soon.

There they are, obviously in the "down" position.

Oh yes - got this back today - the screw holes for the pitot tube have been tapped. More about this below.

Every time we run into something that I suspect we can't do (or we probably couldn't but we could try, but messing up would cost an expensive part), I send it off to Don Corder, a machinist guy that's up in Hazel Green. The pitot tube showed up with no mounting holes in it, and because of the way it's built on the inside, I was pretty nervous about getting everything centered, not hitting the air lines, all that sort of stuff. So, I sent it off to Don and it's done and my wallet is a few dollars lighter.

Lots lighter than if I had to buy a new pitot tube, though, so I'm thinking I came out ahead on this one.
