Various Parts to Attach
Not really a whole lot that got done tonight, but there was some amount of
pondering that had to be done. There are a couple of parts that need to be
attached - all of them forward of the firewall, actually - and we need to
figure out what sort of hardware is necessary to do that.
This is the primer solenoid. There are not any specific directions on how to attach it,
but there are two places for a screw that go into the bottom. Probably needs to be safety
wired, so tracking down some drilled screws this size is in order.

This is a Garmin SmartAntenna that will be used to drive the autopilot. It takes Metric M3
screws (which took us a support call to Garmin to figure out). We don't have those, so this
isn't getting attached tonight. We'll have to build a little stand for it, anyway.
|
And - last but not least, in the parade of parts that we have to figure out how to attach -
is the ammeter shunt for the Dynon Engine Monitor. This should probably be fairly straightforward,
it just will bolt to the firewall.
|
This ammeter shunt is actually fairly strange: the countersunk area for the head of the bolt
fits a different size bolt than actually is designed to go through it, if that makes any sense.
Probably not. What we need, here, is a bolt that has a smaller head and a larger shaft . . . probably
that means we need some sort of screw, instead of a bolt. We'll see.
