31 Oct 06 - Re-drilling the Canopy Frame

The conclusion from yesterday was that we were going to try to drill this out and change the shape - specifically, it looks like the front of the canopy frame needs to be pushed down a little bit with reference to the right side skirt. Or, if you prefer, the right side skirt needs to come up a little bit with reference to the front part of the canopy. Whatever.

Because it's only being moved just a titch (that's a technical term: it's a bit less than a smidge), we'll have to make all sorts of backing plates and doublers for the holes that will now be rather creative shapes.

Drilled out, as you can see, and it looks like the gap is now quite a bit less. This isn't completely perfect, but it is good enough.

The first rivets there at the top (with the backing plate) are in there, so now we're sort of stuck with this new shape.

Well, it looks like it fits quite a bit better now. Now we just have to get it all riveted without letting it change its shape.
