29 May 06 - Redoing Bus Bar Stuff, Wingtip Wiring

Well, after a bunch of thinking, we've deicded to file the original bus bar that we put in the subpanel into the category of things that seemed like a good idea at the time but that didn't really quite work out as well as we had originally planned, which is a pretty long title for a file, if you ask me. One of the projects for today is to replace that with the bus bar that was originally called for in the plans.

The idea behind this is that the bus bar that we started with is that it had six points on it (that we never came close to using) that would ideally only have a couple of wires on each of them. What we found is that we needed less points but needed to have more wires going into each one of them. That's the idea behind this other bus bar - more room, but fewer points, so let's build that and get it on.

One of the other projects for today is running a bunch of wires from the front of the fuselage to the back of the fuselage, which isn't something that you can really take a picture of, so you've kinda gotta take my word on that.

Here's the bus bar going together: you can see how this is going to bolt together - the screws go only through the first layer only.

Here it is all in one piece.

Just for reference, this is what the old bus bar looked like.

Here's the replacement attached in there. Still need to run the wires.

After a bunch of lying on my stomach working on wires on the floor, we've all the wires that we need (that we can think of now, anyway) run to the back of the plane.

Also, the wires to the wings are now at least in place . . . but no wings.

The wings: the last project for today was getting a bunch of the wires that have been run out to the wingtips actually finished up. Here's what they look like now.
