More Wing/Wing Skin Prep
Yeah, there are no pictures today. As far as actual work in the shop,
most of what we got done was pretty boring (cleco, match drill, uncleco,
deburr, peel blue plastic, dimple, etc) and as we just did it with
the other wing skin and took pictures of that, putzing around with
the camera today just didn't seem like a sound investment of time.
It's really the same sorta stuff as what we've been up to the last
few days, just with the opposite wing.
The goal of getting one wing closed up went out the window and was
replaced by the goal of getting the other wing caught up to where
we are now. Hopefully we'll be able to get them both closed up
fairly soon (instead of just one closed up now), so then we won't
have to repeat this process in a few weeks.
In any case, this only came after lots of planning and a certain
amount of ordering parts online. We've got lots o' packages heading
our way right now, which gives you an idea of what we're hoping
to be doing in the next week or so:
- More bushings are on the way from
Van's. We've got some
tubing lying around that was originally destined for the wings,
but we're just going to go with the bushings and then probably use
the tubing in the fuselage. At least this is the plan so far.
- I like the idea of a push-button engine start, but the
really cool buttons are out of sports cars. As such, I've
ordered a engine start button for a
Honda S2000
from
HondaAutomotiveParts.com.
It looks like this, but not quite this big (well, depending on the
resolution of your screen):
Yup. That's totally cool. This may be a first time anyone's stuck
one in an RV . . . I dunno. This has nothing to do with the wings,
really, but I've been meaning to track one of these down for months
and just remembered today.
- Also (probably most importantly), we've started ordering wires
for landing lights and position lights. I'll be talking more about
the gauges and how we're running everything once we get more figured out,
right now it's still something of a work in progress. For what it's
worth, we've ordered this stuff from
Aircraft Spruce.
